Leon County Schools celebrates partnership with Nopetro

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)

Leon County Schools celebrated their five year partnership with gas company Nopetro.

The partnership was put into place to transition the district’s school bus fleet to compressed natural gas, a move, officials say, has saved the district more than $1.1 million.

Wednesday, students from the earth space class at Cobb Middle School’s science magnet program got a brief lesson on the benefits of CNG as a fuel source.

According to officials, the partnership between Leon county and Nopetro was the first of it’s kind in Florida.
