Leon County Schools celebrated their five year partnership with gas company Nopetro.
The partnership was put into place to transition the district’s school bus fleet to compressed natural gas, a move, officials say, has saved the district more than $1.1 million.
Wednesday, students from the earth space class at Cobb Middle School’s science magnet program got a brief lesson on the benefits of CNG as a fuel source.
According to officials, the partnership between Leon county and Nopetro was the first of it’s kind in Florida.
